Washington DC – July 11, 2010 - NobelBiz, an industry leading supplier of telecommunication services to contact centers nationwide and a pioneer in Caller ID Management Services, announced today its support of the Truth in Caller ID Act of 2010.
Based in Carlsbad California, NobelBiz provides long distance service to high call-volume centers nationwide including teleservices companies, collection agencies and financial institutions. As the inventor of the patent pending LocalTouch™, a Caller ID Management Service, NobelBiz has tracked legislative initiatives targeted at caller ID spoofing. The ongoing federal legislation, called the Truth in Caller ID Act of 2010 (S 30 and HR 1258), emerged several years ago when Congress sought to limit deceptive and fraudulent practices by nefarious actors. The legislation does not target use of Caller ID management services for lawful business practices.
“It was important for us and for our clients that we get clarification of the intended purpose of this legislation” says Rich Mahfouz, NobelBiz CEO. After in depth research of the legislative record, and meetings with policymakers, it is very clear to us that the intended target for The Truth in Caller ID Act of 2010 is the nefarious use of Caller ID to cause harm. The legislative reports and floor statements affirm that the legislation does not target the use of Caller ID Management services such as LocalTouch which are used for the purpose of making a lawful contact.”
NobelBiz supplies its services to companies operating more than 350 call centers in the United States. With more than 56,000 call centers operating in the US employing more than 6 million workers, call centers are a major employment base.
“Call Centers are an elemental component of the apparent economic recovery by providing jobs and facilitating commerce” according to Tim Searcy, CEO of the American Teleservices Association. “The ATA is a big supporter of companies who take a leadership role in eliminating the “bad actors” from our industry while helping to provide innovative services to those who play by the rules. The ATA has been tracking the progress on the Truth In Caller ID Act and applauds the efforts of NobelBiz to clarify that this legislation is specifically designed to stem deceptive caller ID tied to intentional bad actors. We join NobelBiz in their support of the Truth in Caller ID Act of 2010”.
